Unexpected Turns

Julie_cover_3     So there have been some unfortunate and unavoidable delays in getting my first book published by a Publisher to print. The book would have been printed in January like I was  promised but I rejected two layouts because they were not up to my standards. I do not think she used the completed edited copy for layout  and in order to make the changes I had to come up with $450, but new Authors beware it is because she is not a real publishing house. But the two layouts she presented  were nothing close to my standards so I rejected them both.  My Amazon Kindle Direct book I published myself in a matter of hours. Self-Publishing is really a lot easier. Except when it comes to Marketing.

I look at my cover photo and I dream of holding that book in my hands for the first time. That’s the thing about publishing just on Amazon you never have that copy in your hand to put on a shelf sporting your name.

The_Thinnest_Loser_2Here is the cover to my Amazon Kindle book “The Thinnest Loser Confessions of an Unreformed Bulimic

The month of January has been crazy! My old car finally saying “No More”.  I searched and searched fora “new” used car, something dependable, in a decent price range, and since my daughter turns 16 in 4 months, her criteria is it had to look like a cool teenager would drive it. Finally found one. We call her Angel the Nissan Altima. She is white and very clean and also had a clean title. Do you know how many people lie about their titles when they are trying to sell a car? We have always dealt with car owners not dealerships, but Angel was sitting on a car lot next to my house. The finally decision was made when my daughter saw the Aux plugin for her iPhone. As far as she was concerned we were done with car shopping. I was all for it. I don’t care as long as it is dependable. And because of the craigslist killer killing that old couple in Florida I was scared to buy from a private owner. So that was a blessing. We had been looking all day and I said pullover and told my husband we have not prayed about this search. He prayed for God to guide us to a safe dependable car we could afford. Within one hour we found Angel. Now Angel was a used car and had a couple of problems but my husband is a Mechanic. That is not what he does for a living but he has the knowledge and know how. So Angel was up to par in two days still in our budget. The car dealer might have thought more was wrong with it because a check engine light would come up. Well my husband took the car and had the code read that the car was giving and priced the part and fixed it. Then another code came up! Then we  were wondering if Angel was our real Blessing or not. He went to have that code read and looked it up and there were a few things it could be, but all minor problems. It turned out it needed a new gas  cap. So we are back in business!
